Swimming Skills and Participation Goals

Movement and Water Skills

  • Lessons may practise simple kicking, paddling and breathing activities at an individual pace.
  • Activities can include supported floating, balance and moving toward the pool edge.
  • Lesson goals focus on water familiarity and practical swimming skills rather than promised health outcomes.

Comfort and Familiarity

  • Underwater games can help children adapt to new sensations and unfamiliar environments.
  • Small goals such as blowing bubbles or supported floating can be introduced gradually.
  • Children respond differently to water and unfamiliar environments; lessons allow time to pause and adjust.

Following Simple Instructions

  • Coaches may repeat short instructions and demonstrations to support learning during the lesson.
  • Activities may practise following one simple safety cue at a time.

Turn-Taking and Communication

  • Lessons teach patience, turn-taking and trusting new adults (coaches).
  • Coaches use consistent routines and clear stop cues, while recognising that each child responds differently.

Your Safety Is Our Priority

FAQ

1. What if my child is crying or afraid of water?

This is completely normal! Many children know how to walk and need some lessons to start. Our coach team is trained to gently build trust through games and reassurance. We never force children into the water. This process is carried out according to your toddler’s pace.

2. Does my child need toilet training to participate?

Don’t! Swim diapers are perfectly fine. Let us know in advance so that we can make corresponding plans.

3. What do I need to prepare before class?

Please take with you: a swim diaper, swimsuits, bath towels, and underwater toys if they have one! Having a familiar toy can help ease the anxiety on the first day.

4. How do I know if my child is ready?

If your child can follow the basic guidelines (such as sitting, standing or coming) and enjoy playtime, then they are ready to start! Even if they are shy, we will support them with love and patience until they feel comfortable.

5. Can I watch the class?

Absolutely! We encourage parents to observe from a comfortable distance. Seeing you around can make your children more confident, especially at the beginning.
